Eh! cough and much splutter, what dya mean TIGHT GITS! Were all saving up for crap new engines! Only joking and will donate soon when there's far less beer in my tank! By the way can I say this is a fantastic new site but sadly I feel its gonna get much bigger with time. 54 plate D22 Outlaw and proud of it but take the side steps off cos they leak in water. Another little gremlin I've encountered to add to the forum which I will post later...... Radio Ga Ga. ;D

YES COME ON! if it was not for this site I would not have carried on with my attempt to get refunded for my replacement engine, i was almost gonna give up when Niall phoned me and Nik, i decided "YES" my engine should not have blown and Nissan should be made aware of this fact, and now they have said they will pay me (still waiting for cheque!) but it is very positive so please pay up and keep going there is light at the end of the tunnel.... john of the lardarse ;-)

"laurie_sandra" have coughed up the quid, donated today by PayPal. ...........Best quid I've ever spent! Great site, cheers guys. Without it, I would had to have battled hard with the dealer. However, because of this board, we found dedicated Nissan Customer Services people that intervened, helped and supported me. ;D

Hi Steve Thanks for your donation ,any monies given are purely for the running of our site and telephone calls etc .Every little bit helps as we are not motivated by profit and are here to help anyone who has had this engine catastrophy happen to them .This story may be interesting to you all.I was in Stornoway on Monday and went to the Co-op to do the shopping. A nice 03 navara with a caravan trailer parked very close to me It was like an articulated unit and later I had a look around and was well impressed. However, the bloke was looking at me sitting there and for some reason ,I knew he was going to come over and talk to me ,which he did .Excuse me mate ,he said .Have you had any trouble with your navara? Before I could really say anything ,he said, Do you know that these navaras are throwing conrods out the side of the engine block? and again before I could reply ,he said ,There,s a dedicated website called knackerednavara where you can get help with nissan to fix He got a new engine from them and went on to tell me how his had blown up and being retired found it very difficult to pay for a new engine as he and his wife were retired and had bought the navara to wander about pulling his caravan This was his first visit to the Outer Hebrides ( Eilean Siar in Gaelic) A system called RET -road equivalent tarriff was introduced here recently by the Scottish Nationalist Party in government and has more than halved the cost of the 3 hour ferry journey and is now bringing people to the islands where before the cost was a joke He then introduced himself and asked me my name .Niall Scott says I ,We,ve got a NS on our site who moderates for us That,s me I said .Well Sir Let me shake your hand again and thank you and Nik for all the support and help you have given to Diane and myself,I,ve no doubt that being a member was the deciding factor in our engine repair He then went on to ask me things about the island and where to go ,what whisky was the best etc. I said my favourite was Bunnabhainn, which is an Islay malt and guess what?He went into the supermarket and bought me a bottle, so Thanks for that M--- and thank you very much for your support and courtesy.Nik and I are very pleased that we have been able to help you and others Another piece of info is that I,m going to meet with Mr Angus Brendan MacNeil MP for Eilean Siar,he who initiated the cash for honours question ,and discuss this problem with him and will ask him to write to Mandelson to obtain details of the amounts of money and help our government is giving nissan. Angus,Brendan is a clever young man and I have every confidence in him.How many people can say that about their MPs He is a gaelic speaking islander and is well aware of the effect that this engine problem has on crofters here on the islands who have bought navaras to enable them to work and earn a living here.To be fair to nissan ,I know of a couple of us here who have had replacements but ! being on an island means that we can,t do the mileage that you all can on the mainland so in many cases we can be time barred instead of exceeding the mileage guaranteed and that,s not fair Slainte Mhath M-- your Uisge Bheatha( whisky ) will soon be slipping down the back of my throat. Keep going Regards Niall

Hi Niall, Great story, I'm in Newtonmore and used to do removals to the Islands so I know where you are.
Could you let me know how to access the members area.
I received a reply from Nissan today stating that they had advised me in October last year to take the knackered Navarra to the main dealer, which is in Inverness. As with their last 3 e-mails my AOL browser has dumped them in the spam bin so never got the info. Anyhow my garage stripped the engine and did the repairs through the winter as I was out of the country. If got a full service history and invoices that I have sent to Nissan who finally got back to me today wanting to discuss the claim. The engine is running better than ever but my faith in it is shot so i'm selling it. Any advice on how to handle Nissan would be much appreciated, as the garage bill is over £3000 OUCH!!
Cheers
Stevie
