Hi all After reading all the negative points about the Navara and it's many appointed dealerships, i thought that it was about time to tell of my experiences with my truck and my local Nissan dealership.
I bought my new D40 King Cab From Reg Vardy on Barrack Road in Leeds, I was (or so i was told) The first person to order the all new singing and dancing D40 Navara from this dealership. I found them very helpful in all matters concerning the various needs and uses of my new truck.
After a short period of time, the dealership was taken over by Evans Halshaw. This was just the same enthusiastic company as the previous one.
Several recall notices were sent to me by Nissan UK and my dealership were very helpful in getting my vehicle in and out again as quickly as possible. I had a rear wheel hub oil seal failure at 28000 miles, this was fixed under warranty with no problem. I have just received another recall notice concerning the air bags, I will contact Evans Halshaw on Monday morning and will get the same level of helpfulness as i am used to
My truck has now covered just over 36000 miles and will be 3 years old this September. I have had nothing but total enjoyment of owning and driving this truck and am pleased to say that I have the experience of a dedicated Nissan dealership to fall back on if required.
I find the finish of the truck to be very good, always reliable and very comfortable to drive. I would have no hesitation in recommending Evans Halshaw or the Nissan Navara D40 to anyone!
I must say that i am in no way concerned with Evans Halsaw, just a very satisfied customer!

Hi Mick welcome to our site .Thank you for joining and especially your comments.I,m sure we all are pleased at your obvious enjoyment of your D40,and the level of service when problems have arisen. As you will have read ,none of our other members have had this experience,I,m sure we all had the same pleasure of owning a navara for a time ,some longer than others The fact still remains that there is a fault in the D22, and the D40 is having problems which Nissan and dealers are very very reluctant to remedy Maybe Nissan are aware of this site now and are rectifying the faults Each one of us is in a position to influence and will very quickly multiply Dealers are aware of the problem and are hesitant to buy second hand navaras E bay is saturated in navaras. It getting to the stage now that it,s difficult to sell a used D22,and don,y hold their price .I,ve really enjoyed mine up until the time it blew up and then got no satisfaction from Nissan at all We all hope I,m sure that you will continue to have Great ,trouble free times with your pickup, so please stay with us and tell us of your dealings when your warranty runs out and problems start to occur You are one of the lucky ones

Hi Niall
I forgot to mention that I also owned a Nissan D22 pickup for 3 years until it was stolen. This vehicle also proved to be trouble free and whoever stole it got themselves a bloody good truck!
After the theft of my D22 I bought a Mitsubishi L200, again a very reliable and trouble free truck but wouldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding.
In my business of landscaping and ground work, I am regularly towing heavy loads behind my D40 and it copes with it very well

So was mine Mick and everyone in here, until it blew an engine These engines should not be failing and should reasonably expected to do 200,000 miles I serviced regularily and treated it well It cost me 16,000pounds I would need to be an idiot to mishandle it You have been very fortunate The rest of our members are not making up stories here The D22 engines are crap and poorly made an Nissan are well aware of it That,s why the wont help us I,m sure there are hundreds if not thousands of us in the same situation Look at other sites in Australia for example and you will see that, these failures are not isolated Good luck with yours I hope it serves you well and gives you no trouble and at the risk of repeating ,wait until your warranty runs out ,which wont be long and then tell us the same story when something bad and expensive happens.

It's the old saying: bad news travels much faster than good news .
If I wasn't having problems with my D40 then I would never have looked for a forum like this in the first place.
Trawling through the many forums, too many owners are suffering at the hands of Nissan and their dealers. Fortunately, with the internet and thanks to forums like this, having a "knackered Navara" is not the lonely place it used to be for owners.

Mick I would be concerned at an oil seal going at 28,000miles Think of the damage that would have done ,if not sorted, to your crown wheel and planetary gears!!!

Niall
That sort of thing could happen on any vehicle. What's the big deal?

Well folks, time for an update.
My D40 kingcab is now just over 5 years old, has just over 58,000 miles on the clock and is just as good as the day i bought it, no problems whatsoever apart from recalls and the rear wheel hub seal, which was covered under warranty! I've been back to Evans Halsall in Leeds and placed an order for the new 190 Acenta, which I should take delivery of in March 2011
All in all, one bloody good truck and one, very satisfied owner!
If anyone out there is after a good, well looked after D40 Kingcab with full service history and with what should be no more than 60,000 on the clock (by March 2011) then by all means give me a shout!

Best regards Mick

the timing chain went on my d40 and the engine ruined at 63.000 miles,i thought i would have to buy a new engine, but a fried at a nissan garage told me it was a fault with the engine and he supplied me with a letter from nissan saying that there is a 5 year warranty or 93.000 miles, there are certain vin numbers this applies to in 2009 2010.you have to bring this to there attention or they will let you think it is out of warranty, the same thing that happened with the model before the d22. do not let nissan get away with this. colin
