Just like to add same old story. con rod through block at 32000 miles. Have contacted CAB who tell us they are keeping a data base for this problem and encouraged us to log our complaint on it and encourage others to do so to. Not sure how they follow this up but worth pursuing maybe.

My navara is 2004 04 plate 2.5Di, have had it for 1.5 years private sale, 62000 miles on clock. Went bang on Friday 4th April. It's getting picked up by Nissan dealership tomorrow for 'assessment' (I have to pay for the uplift). Sounds like the classic con rod story. Any news on this from anyone? Am hoping for positive stuff soon - I am ahaving to hire a van for work at £200/week. Mobile number is 07786242990, am Scotland based

Goo d morning every one or should i say bad morning if you are a nissan navara owner I have joined the broken conrod brigade what a bunch of wotsits Nissan are. I have spoken to Trading standards who have give very helpful advice I am going to take legal action aaginst them on the grounds it isn t an isolated case. The warrenty is useless but if you have any finance on the vehicle then you have got a good case to go after them for reimbursement of all losses incurred well so I am informed. I think we should all get together and unitedly confront NIssan Anyone wishes to contact me the mobile No is 07774273420

64,000 miles, F.S.H. and yes a conrod through the block. How many engines do Nissan require to actually admit to their problem? Big corporations will only listen when it hurts their pocket and that can only be achieved by publicity. Need to formulate a concerted campaign as there are obviously alot of seriously pissed off Nissan owners out there.

had a second hand engine fitted by car engines ltd of Southall, www.engines.me.uk came to £3231.25 in the end, they seem a reputable lot said had about 70% left on clutch (which i had renewed recently) when im sure plenty of others would have gone " sorry mate need new clutch as well!" just waiting for him to send me a report back onthe engine so if you need a copy for your action let me know. regards john

That,s Magic John .We Look forward to that report .Nissan have now extended their warranty to 5 years or 92,000 miles after admitting that " the D22 engine has not performed to our expectations"I have an e-mail here from the motoring correspondent ,Glasgow Herald saying just that ,and came from Nissan GB I was on to Nissan this week and I,m getting a bit of a runaround ,which is just what I expected. Why can,t they just admit and fix ?Keep all your reciepts We will press for a full refund

54 PLATE, 42,000 MILES NUMBER THREE CON-ROD SNAPPED. BEEN SERVICED REGULAR BUT NOT NISSAN SAY ENOUGH. NO AMOUNT OF SERVICING WOULD PICK UP A MANUFACTURERS FAULT LIKE THIS ONE. BEEN QUOTED £7,000.00. FOR NEW ENGINE IF THERE IS ONE IN THE COUNTRY

hi all i have now recieved my 54 nissan navara back from nissan who have repaired my engine FREE OF CHARGE UNDER WARRANTY!! my vehicle was 8 weeks out of warranty with 51k on the clock. they never explained exactly what went wrong with the engine but had to replace the bottom half of the engine so probably the rods went. the work would have been about 5k. i did have a full service history although some of my services were late and i had a missing oil service but i found the invoice for that. they did not want to help at all to begin with and then for reasons unknown to me they just changed their mind at nissan customer services?? the key seems to be service history although this does not have to be with a nissan garage as long as the garage you have used to service your nissan is using original nissan parts. if you have a missing service or have used non nissan parts then you ve got no chance! dave clay daveclay@talktalk.net

Hello Nik/Niall I had my navara repaired in non-nissan garage - recon engine and new clutch - £4700. Ouch. Want it back from Nissan. Also want loss of earnings, towing costs and cost of replacement vehicle while it was off the road. So still definitely still in the fight to the bitter end. Have been keeping in touch with Niall. Got report from garage - so have submitted yet another claim to Nissan through Nobles the Nissan dealer and also directly by repeated phoning and hassling Customer Services. We just keep repeating the same things and eventually they agree to go back to the Warranty department. They keep trying to reject us because our car is an import and we have a missed service in the history. For info -the DVLA don't classify cars from withing the EU as imports due to the single european market so that part of their rejection is nonsense. We'll never give up with them. Am going to have large poster made and get pictures with the Navara saying www.knackerednavara.co.uk.

Hello Yet another knock back from Nissan - they are now saying they won't help because we had a reconditioned engine put in it!!!!! THey really are the most irritating, useless company ever. Went looking about on their website in the FAQs bit and found a question saying would a missed service invalidate the warranty, the reply was "NO the warranty is not invalid however we suggest that servicing is brought into line as soon as possible. Any service related issue that may arise due to late servicing of the vehicle may not be covered". So since the engine failure is not a service related issue - they are liable even if services are missed. Have already persuaded 3 people not to buy Nissan vehicles through our shop, which has probably cost Nissan more in lost sales than if they had just given us a new engine in the first place.
