Hi everyone, just joined your excellent forum, I own a 2007 Nissan Navara D40 Aventura with Snugtop, which I bought brand new last year from my local Nissan dealer, I work in the car body trade and have heard a few stories about engine and clutch problems with the Navara, hence the reason for membership to this site, My Navara is used daily for short runs to and from my work and the mileage is very low (3320 miles) I have heard their is an engine con rod bolt and big end shell modification available at around £600.00 including labour, has anyone else heard about this ? and should I be concerned, considering the small annual mileage of my truck?

hi there and welcome, you should be worried perhaps more than most.... now ive read up on this and its a oil pick up "o" ring that fails its sandwiched between the sump and block and isnt actually bolted in, its only a squash fit with 1 maybe 2 mm contact, now your oil pump is sucking through a tube with this "o" ring in the line quite happily, but as the engine get hot and then cold it has to expand and contract to maintain a good seal........ so short trips may have the engine cool and heat up more than a motorway run then we move onto the brearings and bolts, simply put cheap renault bearings made of a tin alloy that should be a copper/lead composition, and the bolts are either done up super tight or not tight enough, (i had an mr2 with big ends gone and nursed another 3 thousand mile before it went bang) so you replace the bolts with ARP ones same as 600hp skyline ones , and the bearings are very similar im led to belive, but need a little bit of filing bolts= £80ish (set of 8) bearings =£80ish a set oil seal =£1.43 look on your face when it goes bang = priceless, im not out to do any scaremongering im only talking about past vehicles that have gone wrong, yours might be fine, its your choice, cheers nik (off for a cup of tea)
