I've got an 05 d22 63,000, and got the letter about warranty extension a couple of weeks back. not that reassured, esp after seeing the 'watchdog' film online. not got faith in truck for long journeys or motorway anymore. complained to nissan by phone, asked them for pre emptive repair, said no of course. rang nissan dealer, he reassured me they had only had one (south west wales) to fix so far, with poor service history. i have 9 nissan services and one at a volvo garage, he said not a problem as long as service done at a vat reg. garage. Asked about replacing bearing shells and cap bolts, he said it was an engine-out job and expensive. Is this right or can it just be sump-off? also the engine seems verry rattly sometimes, timing chain? hope to trade it in for a mitsubishi soon, fingers crossed!

Hi Have a look at nissan-navara.net You,ll find a series of pictures and a description of engine out job It,s a big job whatever happens So nissan are now fixing with poor service histories ?Last year they were rejecting on grounds of being import or badly worn tyres Amazing what a watchdog prog can do and especially when a group of us get together. Please E-mail me a copy of letter It,s on other sites but I,m unable to lift It,s obvious Nissan are still counting beans here, all of these engines should be replaced or fixed No mucking about Regards Niall

Lifted this from nissan-navara.netwell i've done them. it's an absolute Barstool of a job. the shells weren't a problem, its every thing else. i'll post the job with a few pictures shortly for any one who's interested. if anybody can get someone to do it for them for a couple of hundred quid, take them up on it.
engine sounds sweet, or at least no different to how it was before. old bearings seemed very good but at least i've got some peace of mind (for the moment anyhow)
cheers Richard1
