I've had my 54 plate D40 for three months and the clutch has just gone. My mechanic has spoken to Nissan who said that the fly wheel had to be replaced as well. However, they also said that the problem is caused by the engine producing too many revs at low gears, it can also cause the engine to seize. In addition to having the new parts put in I will also have to take my Navara to a Nissan dealership to get them to adjust the engine revs on the computer. They have just started this computer adjustment in the last couple of weeks. Does this mean that Nissan are accepting liability?

in my opinion if you rev the engine and slip the clutch then its the users fault, but if its you driving and using high revs without your foot on the clutch, then its not your fault, i have heard of the flywheel breaking up, but my first port of call would be a swift call to nissan uk and see if they will come to an agreement, i dont know what the dealer will do by turning down the revs??? who turned up the revs in the first place,or was this set at time of manufacture thats the question to ask

Seemingly it is the manufacturers rev setting that is too high.
