Hi folks I've just joined the knackerd club. I've had a 54 plate d22 Navava since I bought it 18 months ago, when I bought it, it had only covered 13000 miles and with regular servicing every 6000 miles it now at 143000 has just started to knock, I caught it just in time before the big Bang just by being vigilant about noises after reading these forums. I think I'm relatively lucky to get this far, as from that 13000 miles start I have used the vehicle every day for my business which is Car delivery.........YES every day up and down the country TOWING a 3/4 of a ton trailer with a car or small van on the back. So in the broad spectrum of things I think I've done well, it is now at my local Nissan Dealer along with a queue of 4 to be done, some only have covered 60000 miles. BUT it still remains that it should have gone on for longer, as an old shape D22 I had before this one covered 218000 miles towing every day, with only a clutch going at 180000. And before that an Isuzu Trooper covered 220000 miles. I'm assured by my local dealer that the new block has got better oil supply and also stronger Big end bearings..............but I'll just wait an see

welcome to the club, maybe not a good thing, but your here now, im just curious to know if the mileage your quoting is correct,, check with your dealer to see it it was the famous 3rd conrod bearing......... oh and whats it costing for a new engine? keep the old block, its worth good money on ebay for those that didnt notice the rattle and have a holed block

the thing is how do you know that this (new engine to you) isnt one of those engines that will throw a con rod, i would ask for the engine number and i can check it with nissan for you (all part of the service ;D )

Am I correct that engines numbered before 219661 are the offenders
