At the moment im actively looking to purchase a Navara D22, even though im not so sure after what i have read! One question i have got: If i was to buy a Navara D22 which has already had an engine failure and been replaced, is the replacement engine going to probably suffer the same fate? Or is the famous engine failure restricted to a number of factory fitted engines? Also is it better to purchase a navara within a particular reg range? I.E. 04 to 54 plate models? Or is the premature death of any Navara D22 a certainty? And does the D40 suffy the same curse? Any feedback appreciated, to try and save me cash in the long run. Thanks

hi there, i surprised no-one has answered your question, but the truth is that there was a spate of these engines with "not upto nissans usual quality" big end bearings, now we dont know from which engine number to which has those bearings but if you buy a truck which has had a new engine/replacement done by NISSAN ONLY , it will have the later bearings which are good and strong( so im assured by Nissan) If it was an engine reconditioners who is to say where they got the bearings from, maybe ok, maybe old stock, maybe something else, My replacement engine from Nissan runs strong and i do give it a bit of stick now and then, and should out last the bodywork, anymore help..... just ask
