THIS IS IMPORTANT PLEASE CONSIDER Consider this scenario. You are travelling on a busy road or motorway.Could be the M25 .A conrod does its party trick and comes through the side of your engine block. Your engine ,(unless you dip the clutch immediately) will seize. You will have No power for braking and steering. This is a lethal combination and luckily there have been no deaths as far as I,m aware because of this. I will not carry my wife and child in my knackered navara from now on This puts me in a position of extreme inconvenience.Nissan have stated within the posts here that there is no preventative measure that can be taken to avoid this. I believe this to be a lot of Pish. Every navara within the number range quoted by nissan should be remedied to solve the problem and stop potential accidents and possible fatalities to your loved ones and others .THE CONSEQUENCES COULD BE TRAGIC and leave you open to legal action.Nissan have admitted that there is a fault and I believe are culpable in the event of this happening.I,m going to discuss this with my insurance company, my solicitorand the Department of Transport and Trading Standards ,today 19 th November 2008 Also consider the alternative of having to obtain and use another vehicle in order to stop this potentially fatal event. It will cost you money and in the present climate and if you have a business, could have financial implications which could make your way of earning a living stop. Consider the implications of that. There are already posts in here stating that businesses have been put under pressure because of this manufacturing fault. In the Watchdog prog there was mention of shards Of metal and oil being lost from vehicles. You have to consider the driver behind you.Regards Niall ps Michel please lift and post on your site in France

thats a very good and honest point, the consequences are very real and very scary, but if i drive my vehicle with a possible fault, where do i stand with my insurance??? would it be invalid? after all i know there is a history of this fault...................

I spoke to my insurance company today. They confirmed to me that my insurance would be invalid if I knowingly drove with a fault whether of my making or the manufacturer.I also spoke to my lawyer at navara claims .com and he also confirmed He said that the manufacturer would also be liable ,although what good that would be to me if I was in a wheelchair and my family were dead Please discuss this with your own insurance company and mention knackered navara for confirmation of fault as posted by nissan. This aspect is far too important to ignore.

Lifted from our sister site in France Unacceptable by a large manufacturer. Pas juste pour la garantie, mais surtout le fait du grand risque de provoquer un accident; imaginez sur autoroute, une pluie le soir presque nuit...... Not just for the guarantee, but the fact of the high risk of causing an accident; imagine motorway, rain in the evening almost night ...... Oh non j'vais pas dormir cette nuit Oh no j'vais not sleep tonight  Phil phil74 phil74 Messages: 7 Messages: 7 Inscription: Jeu 23 Oct 2008 16:05 Joined: Thu 23 Oct 2008 16:05

what is wrong with these people. If the engine is below the 'problem' number, WHY arn't they contacting the owners??? Question of time before somebody gets killed I guess. check out Nissans web site for updates on engine number details. Seems to be getting more informative over last week. STILL waiting for news on my Nav in Preston :-(. How hard is it Nissan? C'mon, there's a problem, sort it. End of Story! - Love the mention of this web site on Nissans site. Make us feel like the thorn in the side we should be eh?

never thought about insurance problem before Nissan must be held fully accountable for any accidents that may arrise from there FAULTY ENGINES! if there was to be a fatality how are they gonna feel with blood on their hands? well if ford are any thing to go by it is cheaper to pay compensation for deaths rather than recall and fix engines!
Where do i staid i wonder had replacement engine 2nd hand one warranty has now run out if that goes bang can i go for Nissan again? (did not get any previous service history with it but servicing now as per schedule?)

Hi All Here is the reply from my insurance company to my enquiry as to who would be liable if in the event of a serious accident occuring as a result of a conrod coming out of the engine at speed and on a busy motorway Please check with your own insurance as to cover and liability. As I cant scan and post it says" Dear Mr Scott Thank you for your recent enquiry. With reference to our telephone conversation on Monday15 december, all claims are treated on an individual basis and if it is found that an accident is caused by faulty workmanship or faulty parts then responsibility would be to the manufacturer Signed Graeme Baker,Director of Customer Management RAC Direct Insurance, reference COOPM13,Insurance reference numberRVN501705113

Our Nirvana engine blew into pieces nearly killing the driver and two children. Contact VOSA (tel-0300-123-9000) in charge of MOT's and car recalls. Tell them how much warning you had before it happened and how dangerous it was when it happened. They are responsible for getting Nissan to recall these vehicles. We did this, NO SERVICE HISTORY and Nissan responded immediately with aan engine replacement. Pass this on. This was lifted from 4x4 web chat forum
