D22 2004. The engine sounds rather noisy after cold starting for a few minutes. I have read some things about the 'recall' for the timing chain tensioner, so popped down to the local nissan garage to be told no there havent been any recalls. So I informed them that I have heard about a possible fault and would like it looked at, I had the feeling that there was something they didnt want to tell me? Anyway, I am dropping it off on wednesday so they can look at it when cold on Thursday. So what I need to clarify is what is the details of this fault/recall so I can be prepared for what they tell me. They asked me to bring my service history in so I guess they know that it may be something they have to do

It could be the fan belts. Mine was like that for ages. Went back to Nissan twice but they could not find anything wrong. People were stopping my wife in car parks telling her to "get that engine looked at" where the noise was so bad in the end. I found out what it was on the Nissan Navara forum. Before you start it up pour some water over the fan belts. If the noise does not happen then replace the fan belts. I had mine replaced and it is lovely and quiet now.
