So it would seem we are not alone!! Engine failed at just under 60k, rod not gone through block yet, D22 2005, bought 2nd hand 16months ago , fully serviced but not with Nissan for the last year. Still a week in warranty but Nissan don't want to know. Wanted us to pay to have it assessed with main dealer £800-£1000, at present we are having engine stripped with our mechanic to establish extent of damage. As this seems a very common fault with this model any one have any ideas as to how we can encourage Nissan to accept responsibility. These are vehicles designed to work, i was always under the impression a well maintained diesel engine would go on for slightly more than 3yrs. With own business this now means i have to buy a cheap van just to keep myself on the road, until we can establish extent of damage. Have contacted watchdog as yet no reply and CAB. Would like to hear from anyone with ideas.

Well you can add mine to the list ! Guess I'm lucky getting 90k out of my D22, our other D22 is still going with 89k ... oh dear, not long left !
All in all it's bloody bad crack from Nissan, I can't beleave there is so many of these ! We will certainly not look at the D40's now, we intended to replace both this year but guess it'll be Toyota or Mitsubishi.
I have a recon engine from a company in Manchester getting fitted now, with a 12 mth warranty, still costing nearly £3k when all said and done... thank god it's a company vehicle !
Great site btw, well done !
