Toyota to recall 45,000 cars in UK © ITN 2009 Toyota is to recall more than 45,000 cars to fix a seat belt defect. The owners of the cars, all 2006 and 2007 Yaris models, will receive letters telling them about the problem, a Toyota UK spokesman said. He said a seat belt pre-tensioner, a safety measure which locks a seat belt in place during a collision, could heat up and cause a fire in a high speed head-on crash. There have not been any reported cases of this actually happening. He said: "We can use chassis numbers to identify the cars involved and then trace the owners through the DVLA to ensure the right people are sent letters." A total of 1.3 million vehicles are being recalled..........This is what should be happening to us regarding the engine failure There,s service for you Take note nissan

Our Nirvana engine blew into pieces nearly killing the driver and two children. Contact VOSA (tel-0300-123-9000) in charge of MOT's and car recalls. Tell them how much warning you had before it happened and how dangerous it was when it happened. They are responsible for getting Nissan to recall these vehicles. We did this, NO SERVICE HISTORY and Nissan responded immediately with aan engine replacement. Pass this on. This was lifted from 4x4 web chat forum

nissan engine From: Ernesto (heerernesto@hotmail.com) You may not know this sender.Mark as safe|Mark as junk Sent: 05 June 2009 02:40:24 To: weenib@hotmail.com
Hello, i saw your e-mailadress on the 4x4 web.My name is Ernest Ras, Dutch from origin and I am living in Chile, southamerica.I am perhaps very inpolite to mail you but i have the following problem with my D22 Nissan Terrano, build 2007 witch has the same YD25 TD engine as the Navara. For my work i bought this pickup wich is very yousefull on the dirtroads here. Now after 62000 KM there is coming a rattling sound from the top off the engine when cold.Once the engine is getting warmer the sound disapears.I am having it checked with the local Nissan dealer and tomorrow they will tell me the cause.Searching on internet about the Nissan D22 i am beginning to feel a bit scared reading the storys about conrods, clutches and timing chain issues.Having bought the car used i do not have any documentation that the car was serviced with a Nissan dealer. So if something was to happend to my pickup i suppose there would be no Nissan warranty for me.My cuestion would be:what would you advise me to do, are these pickups really that bad?Perhaps while its still running relatively good i should sell it.Getting good information here is difficult as Nissan mecanics wont tell you the real story.Hope to see your answer, Ernest Ras

We have a 54 plate Nivara - ex Balfour Betty Vehicle. After going from normal temperature to overheated in less than 200 yards , the water resevour was checked and found to contain water. However it took over a 5 litres to refil it. We had the vehicle checked out , only to find that the number 4 piston is cracked , and the head is also cracked around the fuel injector. We have used Nissan vehicles in our company for years, But this will be the last one. We would be interested in joining any campaign against Nissan recover the cost towards a new engine.

Hi to Spacedog and all. Kn has come across this import ban to accepting any liability before.Look at Littletruckers blog and note that nissan tried to deny reponsibility, in my case by saying that my tyres were well worn .Look at the comments after. It is KN ,s belief that a nissan navara is a nissan navara ,no matter where it was made. Mine is a cyprus import bought from Ian Foster specialist cars in Sunderland. It has a nissan badge on the front grill and a nissan sign on the back door, and it uses expensive nissan parts ,Something tells me that my D22 is a nissan and it is reasonable to expect standards of engineering robustness and Quality of customer service. Those of us in here and others in Europe www.casse-pickup-nissan.org have not had this expectation and courtesy.Best of luck to you Spacedog Please get a reference number for your calls to nissan and put it in writing etc I,m sure you,re a big boy and know the script I would do and have done most of what you are proposing to do Regards Niall

Hi All and a Happy New Year .Congratulations to our member Paul on his triumph although it is KN,s opinion that nissan is still being a cheeky Bastard by charging Paul for labour costs. As a number of you are aware ,the possibility of litigation is being discussed and the new year could be an exciting one .Nik and I thank you for your support and help Regards Niall

Hi Guys, Due to numerous phone calls and emails, got a call from Nissan today saying that my Navara engine is one of the problem ones and they are willing to pay for the parts only if it is checked over by a nissan dealer....even though it is 13 months over the 5 year extended warranty they are still offering me parts!! This must idicate that they are accepting liability and if so should they not pay for the repair as well? They are calling my local garage who we have dealt with tomorrow and i will let you know the outcome, one things for sure i aint paying dealer labour rates when i can get a better job done cheaper by a guy who has been in the trade for over 30 years......... Has any one else been offered this straight away and if so did you push for labour to be paid as well, outcome?
cheers all will keep you posted BTW STILL CANT FIND THE DONATE BUTTON - POINT IT OUT AND ILL DONATE FOR SURE......
regards
Lindsay
