2005, 54.000 miles double cab. missed one service but we were using full synthetic oil. all servicing was carried out at non nissan garage using approved parts. nos2 and 3 big ends failed and crank cracked. Nissan gave us nothing and rebuild cost approx £4500 inc labour. WE lost use of vehicle for 5weeks then injector nozzles failed and vehicle was off road for another 6 weeks waiting on parts again no contribution from Nissan. Jim Scotland 07711345566

Just driving home from work last night and bang! It's a 03 navara d cab 71000 miles fully serviced every 6k miles by an ex nissan mechanic. Need some advice as £5k for a new engine is not happening!! having it inspected this afternoon but sounds like the conrod/ big end.

Hi Martin you can bet your last penny it,s no 3 bigend bearing and any engine you replace it with has the same fault A professional rebuild is probably the best way forward

54 Navara about 10 weeks out of warranty with 54,000 on the clock. Total engine failure - con rod through block. Taken 7 weeks for Nissan to come back and reject warranty. We serviced our own vehicle using genuine Nissan filters. Purchased it second hand at about a year old, Nissan rejected it because in the time span we should have had 9 services yet book shows only 6. There were no service entries when we initially purchased our van. Our services work out on average about every 5 months with an average of about 7500 miles on clock between. We have receipts for all filters purchased. I doubt we will ever purchase a Nissan again. Not only has the engine let us down but Nissans support is unbelievably rude. Seven weeks is bad to come to a decision. This is a commercial vehicle which, until now we had been relying on.

Just had words with Nissans customer services re warranty rejection. Because we purchased the vehicle second hand and consequently cannot provide evidence of the initial servicing in the first 9000 miles prior to our ownership they are not prepared to budge or even offer a compromise. We certainly wont be buying or condone the the purchase of a nother Nissan to anybody else with this low level of support. Shame because the vehicle itself was actually quite useful in it's short life.

We're getting it sorted. We need it back on the road. To replace it will cost us £2194 including pars and labour. Hopefully we'll be able to use it by the end of the week.

hi all, im a newbie. i bought an 02 reg d22 2.5 TDi in aug 2007. 29k miles full nissan service. now got 41k with full service. touch wood no problems so far apart from a little high on fuel. im only gettin about 22 mpg but at first i was getting about 30-35mpg!? going for another service soon, would it be worth having it strengthened with the bolt & bearing etc? and how much will it all cost? its been a great car so far and it would be a shame to get rid or have it blow up. when i need it.
