I would like to say that owning my first Nissan is a joyful experiance, but it is not!!
I purchased the car (Pathfinder Early 06 model) second hand form a non franchised dealer, later I found that the rear chrome finisher has the issues as posted on the net as follows:
There was a TSB on "rust" from the rear chrome handle finisher
NTB05091
IF YOU CONFIRM Rust at the the edges of the license lamp finisher on the rear hatch, ACTIONS 1. Perform a Refinish Half-Block repair to the rusted area using standard auto body repair practices. 2. After the body repair is complete, apply clear protective tape to the areas that were rusted. 3. Install a new license lamp finisher. See this bulletin for further detail.
Nissan customer support say there are no TSB's relating to the chrome finisher and the issue could not have been apparant when the car was sold due to the amount of checks performed, if this is correct why do two dealer say this is a common problem with the pathfinder
The above action is not what the franchise dealer wishes to perform, I am lead to believe they wish to remove the tail gate and completely respray it?!?
How ever after dealing with Nissan customer service for the last few month to try and get this issue corrected the finally desided to offer a good will jesture, the told me the cost of the repair would but approx £767, the will pay for the replacment chrome finish leaving me to find approx £670.
As two francished dealers have told me this is a common problem with the Pathfinder, I do not see why I should have to pay £600+
Nissan customer service are very polite but that is not going to correct my issues.
However they do not return calls when the state they will, I asked for a manager to call me, I was told one would call within twenty four hours, that was seventy two hours ago.
Please is there any one who can help, the pathfinder is a great car, my wife and I where saving to purchase the new Tekna model, but with what has gone on so far i do not feel this would be a good move on my part.
Regards
Mick
