Wifes Navara 05, started pinging (according to her) and then I drove it yesterday and bang, bang the engine knocked. Stopped, got RAC to lowbed it to my garage, called Nissan Cust Serv who said its has to be moved to Nissan Franchise. £100 to et it moved, just come back to me to say "the engine is knocking" we'll strip it, it will cost you £516 to strip down. Asked if this isn't covered under the extended warranty and was told to take it up with Cust Serv. Just checked and they have told me that if the problem is diagnosed as being "their inherent fault" then it would be compensated back. So far, both dealer and Cust Serv both are saying it could very well be the same issue as everyone is talking about, so here's hoping. Typical, just got ourselves back in the black in terms of finace and now £200 in lowbed and hire car for 7 days.

Evening,
I have had the same engine failure, knew nothing until bang travelling down A23, 93000 miles 54 plate, just afew weeks from the five years since we brought it from a dealer , new, in Wales. Rac transported it to garage, everybody knew it seems exept us!!. Nissan played very cutely, they stated it was a import from Cyprus, which we didn't know, although all made in Japan, and they stated it was imported in june of 04, so that is when the warrenty statrted, although we brought it in Nov 04 !! The dealer said the Nissan garage where we had it serviced should have mentioned it...no they did not, Nissan GB said I had to claim myself direct to Cyprus, nobody spoke English, when they did eventually answer the phone, and no replies to letters or e-mails. Nissan GB said, Nissan Cyprus had the money from the sale so they (Cyprus) had to carry out the repair ! We are a small business, reling on thr truck, we had to buy a small van replacement, now 3 months still nothing from Nissan, so we had a replacement engine fitted cost £4k We thought it would last for ever !!

Here is a copy of email I sent to Japan 5 feb 2010FAo Mr Carlos Ghosn CEO Nissan Sir ,Knackerednavara would like to complain in the strongest possible terms about the shabby and nebulous way Nissan customer services here in the UK are denying responsibility over the YD engine conrod issue and will include a couple of examples of recent rejection on the grounds of vehicle being Cyprus imports.Navaras are not made here in the UK so all navaras are imports. These members have spent good money buying your product and to be treated in this way is disgraceful Navara 04 model. 3rd piston/ conrod short engine failure. Done 81000 miles. Nissan UK customer services like running into a brick wall. As truck is a cypriot import, (News to me) Nissan UK are refusing to help, despite the fact that all were made in Japan using con rods/ end bolts that are not fit for purpose and truck registered as new in the uk !!! Told me to phone nissan cyprus as it was their problem! ? The fight continues... Nissan clearly don't care about what their customers think. Mission statement on their global web site claims they do HA HA HA Am contacting Paul Wilcox UK Nissan Managing director, Watchdog, VOSA about imports, Consumers direct and trading standards UK. Wish me luck. Link to Post - Back to Top IP: LoggedLetter rejecting little truckers first attempt at resolution Thank you for your letter dated 17 April 2008, regarding your Nissan Navarra and the problems you have been experiencing.
I can understand how frustrating this must be for you, especially when you are faced with a problem like this.
As you are aware, your vehicle is an import from Cyprus, which means Nissan Motors (GB) Ltd is not liable for cost of repairs to your vehicle. This was also put forward to warranty who also denied the claim due to the late service history.
I am aware that you are not happy with this decision, however we do have guidelines that we need to follow and in this case your vehicle did not meet our goodwill criteria.
In closing, we will not be taking any further action towards this case, the decision has been made by both Nissan Customer Services and our warranty department that we will not be contributing towards the repairs or the loss of earnings towards this vehicle. I am sorry for any inconvenience this has caused you, and I hope you can appreciate the reasons behind this decision.Sincerely Laura Evans, case manager,Nissan customer services

Evening Nial, I have just spoken to Anntte @ Nissan, she was very nice, she is looking into my case, which unbeknown to me had been closed by Nissan in October !! I have forwarrded her all the repair invoices, and she says she will get back to me by Monday close of play!! Thanks for your help Ps The truck is now great, the replacement engine company was a joke, the 1st engine they sent was noisier that the holed one, so they collected the truck from the garage in Seaford East Sussex and took it to their workshop in Bradford, and kept it for over 2 months, eventially after threatning solicitors , it was returned on a trailer, and has been perfect since....fingers crossed. Yours Wendy
